Cookie Policy
What we store in your browser, why, and how to remove it.
The short version
bookmysalon uses a small number of cookies and browser storage entries so the site works: to keep you signed in, to remember the area you are searching in, and to remember a choice you made (for example, a dismissed banner). We do not run advertising cookies and we do not sell data to advertisers.
Strictly necessary
Sign-in session (sb-*-auth-token): keeps you signed in between pages. Set when you sign in; cleared when you sign out or after it expires.
Security and routing cookies set by our hosting provider (Vercel) to deliver pages reliably. These do not identify you.
bms_country and bms_lang: remember the country and language you chose, for 1 year. bms_cc: the country of the last salon page you looked at, for 1 year. bms_branch: which branch a salon owner is working in. bms_last_role: whether you last signed in as a salon or a professional, so sign-in opens the right form. None of these identify you.
Preferences (browser storage, not sent to us)
Your chosen town or area, the last search you typed, whether you asked to install the app, and whether you dismissed a one-time message. These live in your browser's local storage, never leave your device, and can be cleared from your browser settings at any time.
Analytics
We use our hosting provider's aggregate, cookie-less page statistics (counts of page views and speed). No personal profile is built and nothing is shared with advertisers. If we ever add a tool that needs consent, this page and a banner will say so first.
Third parties
Map tiles and the map on a salon's page are loaded from the map provider when you open that page; their own privacy terms apply to that request. Google sign-in, if you use it, sets Google's own cookies on Google's domains.
Country flags in the country picker are loaded from flagcdn.com, and listing photos from our image store (Amazon CloudFront). Those servers see your IP address when the picture loads, as with any image on the web. Fonts are served from our own domain.
How to clear or block
Every browser lets you clear site data or block cookies for thebookmysalon.com. Blocking the sign-in cookie means you cannot stay signed in; everything public — finding a salon, reading its page — keeps working.
